As you may be aware, Highways England is proposing to upgrade the A1 in Northumberland to dual carriageway standard between Morpeth and Felton and Alnwick and Ellingham, creating a continuous dual carriageway from Newcastle to Ellingham. In addition to this, we are also proposing several improvements north of Ellingham such as junction improvements and overtaking sections.
A consultation period will run from 14 November to 23 December 2016 with a series of events in the local area at the time and dates stated on the attached flyer. In order to publicise the events as much as possible I would be very grateful if you could display the attached flyers on the notice board for your local area to help us to advertise the events. We hope that you and other local people and businesses will participate in the consultation, and share your views on the proposals. This will enable us to take into account the needs of local road users when developing the proposals
